We have been at our most creative to help transform the shop space at Bailey & Nelson’s new Clapham store in to a smart new boutique.
The building had an old timber floor, so needed a structural dry screed board installing over floor joists to ensure our MC Poured Solo resin flooring could be applied seamlessly to the entire floor. A robust solution for a busy retail space.
New plaster stud walls were coated with Solacir® Interiors Microscreed to give them a solid concrete look and our design flair allowed different coloured icons to be stencilled within the wall surface.
The combination of contemporary resin flooring and the mineral finish of the walls creates a subtle background to show off the stylish eyewear on offer at Bailey & Nelson.
Floored Genius have been involved with London’s first “cycle-in office”; the Alphabeta Building, which is a nine storey, 220,000 square foot refurbished building located between Shoreditch and the City of London.
It is great to be able to work close to home, but this one is literally just a stones throw away. We love old industrial buildings and were delighted when we heard that The Pumphouse in Barry was going to be redeveloped, as it is an iconic building.
So it became a mission to get some of our decorative concrete Microscreed in to the building and we are very grateful that the developer gave us the opportunity to apply this versatile product to the walls in some of the exclusive private apartments.
There is still a bit of work to be done, but the high standard of finishing will ensure that this project is a great success.
This is one of our favourite projects, not just because it is close to home and the coffee, cakes and ice creams are fabulous, but because we tried something different and it worked really well.
A decorative concrete floor finish at Bay 5 Coffee was engineered to suit a tight budget, a quick turnaround and a rustic design that would complement the interior of this converted lifeguard station right on the beach front of Barry Island.
Definitely worth a visit this summer if you are visiting South Wales.
Our latest Solacir Interiors Microscreed floor has been installed at the new Toms store just off Carnaby Street in London.
We are delighted to have worked with a such progressive company as Toms and encourage everyone who visits to see a Microscreed floor to buy something, even if it is just a coffee to earn the benefit of there ‘one to one’ charity scheme.
It is hard to tell from the finished photos, but the existing floor is not solid, it is a suspended floor on timber joists. Floored Genius’ technical expertise has enabled us to engineer a solution to give the client a floor with a solid concrete finish.
Refurbishment projects can be tricky, so a versatile material like Solacir Interiors’ Microscreed is ideal for an old building in London with an existing timber floor that requires a contemporary concrete finish.
Only Solacir Interiors Microscreed has enough tensile strength to be laid on to suspended substrates. Don’t be fooled by cheap imitations !
Yacco Maricard, the Japanese design house have opened a second shop in London to showcase their unfussy, classic clothing range, and we were delighted to be asked by Aldworth, James and Bond to provide a microscreed floor surface on top of a new timber substrate.
Their space was totally transformed as the microscreed gives a natural stone effect (even though it was installed over timber boards) giving a distinctive yet unobtrusive look which sits perfectly with the rich colours of the clothing.
Why not pop along and enjoy the energetic environment of Marylebone Lane to appreciate both the flooring and clothing!
You can now catch the work of Floored Genius on Channel 4’s Restoration Man, as Architect George Clarke visits an old cow barn in Herefordshire that couple Marco and Kath Walker are converting into their dream home.
The couple had bought the pair of Grade II listed 17th and 18th century cow barns from their local farmer in Wellington with big plans to create a bespoke home for their family.
When we first visited the development site in 2013 we found the floor in a bad state; the ground was uneven, unsightly and severely cracked in places.
Solacir Interiors’ Microscreed product is a ‘waxed concrete’ finish, which can be easily applied to existing concrete surfaces. It’s water based, rather than chemical based, with a natural-looking finish, so it’s perfect for a family environment. We decided that this would be the ideal choice for Marco and Kath’s ground floor.
The nature of the Microscreed product means that it is extremely versatile; it can be used across a multitude of existing surfaces as well as being available in a wide range of colours, tones and aspects, allowing Marco and Kath to select a personalised look especially for their home aesthetic. It won’t stain or tear and it is less prone to cracking than your traditional polished concrete finish.
The end result was a smooth, seamless flooring throughout the open-plan ground floor – maintaining the original feel of the building, but with a contemporary openness that Marco and Kath were delighted with:
“Our new floor just looks incredible and goes so well with our open plan living space. From first contact with Floored Genius they came up with excellent advice before we decided on our colour scheme, took time to talk through samples, came up with ideas and also gave great after care service when all works were completed.
We would definitely recommend FlooredGenius and their stunning Microscreed floors” – Marco Walker
